2. How PriceScout Earns Revenue

PriceScout is a free price comparison service. We do not charge users any fee to use the Service, and we do not require account creation or payment of any kind. PriceScout earns revenue primarily through affiliate commissions, as described below.

2.1 Affiliate Commissions

When you use PriceScout to compare prices and click on a link to a retailer's product page, that link is an affiliate link. If you subsequently make a purchase on the retailer's website after clicking through from PriceScout, PriceScout may earn a commission from the retailer or the affiliate network that facilitated the referral. This is PriceScout's primary source of revenue.

2.2 Key Facts About Affiliate Commissions

• The commission is paid by the retailer, not by you. Affiliate commissions are a standard e-commerce practice in which the retailer pays a referral fee to the publisher (PriceScout) for directing a customer to their website. Clicking an affiliate link on PriceScout does not increase the price you pay for any product. You pay the same price you would pay if you had navigated directly to the retailer's website.
• Every product link on PriceScout is a potential affiliate link. This is not limited to the cheapest result or any highlighted or featured result. Any link on the Service that directs you to a retailer's product page may be an affiliate link, regardless of the product's price, the retailer, or the position of the result. PriceScout may earn a commission on any result you click.
• Commission rates vary by retailer and affiliate network. Different retailers and affiliate networks offer different commission rates and structures. The commission rate PriceScout earns on a given transaction depends on the retailer, the product category, and the terms of the applicable affiliate program agreement.

2.3 No Display Advertising

PriceScout does not display advertisements of any kind on the Service. There are no banner ads, pop-up ads, sponsored content placements, or paid promotional listings anywhere on the Site or in the Extension. This is a deliberate product integrity decision. We believe that displaying advertising would compromise the objectivity of our results and undermine user trust. The absence of advertising is a core feature of PriceScout, not an oversight.

3. Independence of Results

This is the most important section of this Disclosure. PriceScout exists to help you find the lowest available price for products you are considering purchasing. Our value to you depends entirely on the honesty and objectivity of our results. The following commitments are foundational to how PriceScout operates:

3.1 Results Are Always Ordered by Price

Product results on PriceScout are always ranked by price, from lowest to highest. The cheapest available price appears first, regardless of which retailer offers it and regardless of whether PriceScout earns a commission from that retailer. In the event that two or more retailers offer the same price for a product, those results are ordered alphabetically by retailer name. This ordering logic is rule-based and deterministic. It is not subject to manual override, commercial negotiation, or adjustment of any kind.

3.2 No Promoted or Sponsored Results

No retailer can pay to have their result appear higher in PriceScout's rankings. There are no promoted placements, sponsored results, boosted listings, or preferred positioning on the Service. Every result earns its position based solely on its price relative to other available prices.

3.3 Affiliate Relationships Do Not Influence Results

Specifically, affiliate commissions and commercial relationships with retailers or affiliate networks do not influence:

• Which retailers appear in the results for any given product.
• The order in which results are ranked.
• The price verdict (Good Deal, Fair Price, Overpriced, Best Price Available, or Can't Compare) assigned to any product.
• The sale predictions displayed for any product category.
• Whether a particular result is visually emphasized, highlighted, or styled differently from any other result.

3.4 Lowest Price Always Shown First

If the lowest available price for a product is at a retailer with which PriceScout has no affiliate relationship and from which PriceScout earns no commission, that result will still appear first. PriceScout will never suppress, hide, demote, or visually de-emphasize a lower-priced result in order to promote a higher-priced result that generates a commission. Our mission is to show you the lowest available price, period.

4. Affiliate Programs and Networks

PriceScout participates in the following affiliate programs and networks. Each program has its own terms, conditions, and disclosure requirements, which PriceScout complies with in addition to the FTC requirements addressed in this Disclosure:

4.1 Amazon Associates Program

PriceScout is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click a link to an Amazon product on PriceScout and make a purchase, PriceScout may earn a commission from Amazon.

4.2 Additional Affiliate Networks

PriceScout also participates in the following affiliate networks, through which we may earn commissions from a variety of retailers:

• Impact.com — A partnership management platform connecting publishers with advertiser brands across multiple retail categories.
• Commission Junction (CJ Affiliate) — A global affiliate marketing network facilitating partnerships between publishers and major retail brands.

5. How Affiliate Links Work

When you click a product link on PriceScout, you are redirected to the retailer's website through an affiliate tracking link. This link contains a publisher identifier that attributes the referral to PriceScout so that the affiliate network can track whether a purchase occurs and, if so, calculate the applicable commission. The affiliate link does not contain any information that personally identifies you. It identifies PriceScout as the referring publisher, not you as an individual.

After you click through to the retailer's website, the retailer and/or the affiliate network may place a cookie on your browser to track whether you complete a purchase within a specified attribution window (which varies by program, typically ranging from 24 hours to 30 days). If you complete a purchase within that window, PriceScout may earn a commission. If you do not complete a purchase, or if the cookie expires before a purchase is made, no commission is earned.

Once you leave PriceScout and arrive on a retailer's website, you are subject to that retailer's own terms of service and privacy policy. PriceScout has no control over and no visibility into the data collected by any third-party retailer after you click through from the Service.

6. Price Verdicts and Editorial Independence

PriceScout assigns a price verdict to every product query: Good Deal, Fair Price, Overpriced, Best Price Available, or Can't Compare. These verdicts are generated algorithmically by comparing the submitted product's price against prices available at other tracked retailers, using defined percentage thresholds. Verdicts are not editorial opinions, endorsements, or recommendations. They are automated, rule-based assessments.

No retailer, affiliate network, or commercial partner has any input into, influence over, or ability to modify the verdict assigned to any product. A product listed at a retailer with which PriceScout has a lucrative affiliate relationship will receive an "Overpriced" verdict if its price is higher than the defined threshold relative to other available prices. Conversely, a product at a retailer with which PriceScout has no affiliate relationship will receive a "Good Deal" verdict if its price warrants it. The verdict system is entirely independent of PriceScout's commercial relationships.

7. Sale Predictions

PriceScout provides sale predictions indicating upcoming known sale events that may be relevant to a product's category. These predictions are based on a hardcoded calendar of annual sale events (e.g., Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Prime Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day) and general historical discount patterns for product categories. Sale predictions are not AI-generated forecasts and do not rely on predictive algorithms or machine learning models.

Sale predictions are informational estimates only. They do not constitute a guarantee or promise that any particular sale will occur, that any particular product will be discounted, or that any specific discount amount will be offered. PriceScout provides sale predictions as a convenience to help you decide whether to purchase now or wait. The decision to buy or wait is entirely yours. PriceScout is not liable for any sale prediction that does not materialize.

8. What This Means for You as a Consumer

In plain language, here is what this Disclosure means for you:

• You never pay more because of PriceScout. Affiliate commissions are paid by the retailer out of their existing margin. Your price is the same whether you arrive at the retailer's website through PriceScout or by typing the URL directly into your browser.
• We always show you the cheapest price first. No matter how much or how little PriceScout earns from a particular retailer, the lowest price always appears at the top of your results. We will never hide a cheaper option to push you toward a more profitable one.
• We don't run ads. There are no advertisements on PriceScout. No retailer can pay for visibility, placement, or promotion on the Service.
• Our verdicts are honest. If a price is bad, we'll tell you it's bad, even if PriceScout would earn a commission on that purchase. Our verdicts are calculated by fixed rules, not influenced by commercial considerations.
• You support PriceScout by shopping through our links. When you find a good deal through PriceScout and purchase through one of our links, the commission we earn is what allows us to keep the Service free, continue tracking prices, and keep improving the product. Your support through affiliate purchases directly funds the Service you use.
